Ethics in the Real World: 86 Brief Essays on Things that Matter by Peter Singer
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Based Peter Singer.
I’m not going to write a full review here but these are some generally great short essays on ethics on a wild variety of topics which make you think, especially if you are not deeply familiar with utilitarianism. This book is a passion project and it shows: it was a pleasure to read. Depending on who you are, there may be one problem: some of the essays are terribly short and don’t go into enough detail such that they can hardly be worth reading on their own. However I’m personally fine with this kind of “intro to the topic” style where I can look up whatever I’m interested in after reading about it from Singer. I think many writers tend to write large essays just to prove they’ve thought a lot about it and are very smart — singer does none of this and everything is very concise. Also, new topic fast make monkey brain happy. 🐒
